Taking a good watch on a trip shouldn’t mean worrying about it. A watch roll or travel case gives each watch its own soft slot, so nothing rubs together in your bag.

Our travel watch cases come in single, double and triple rolls for a weekend away, and lockable briefcases that carry 18 or 24 watches. Every roll takes watches up to 55mm wide, and delivery is free across the UK.

Watch roll or watch briefcase?

A watch roll is slim and light. It fits in a carry-on, a jacket pocket or a bag, and it suits one to three watches. A briefcase is for collectors who need to move a lot of watches, such as to a watch fair, a dealer or a second home. Ours hold 18 or 24 watches, with a lift-out tray and a lock.

Which roll size is right?

A single roll is perfect when you wear one watch and want a spare. A double roll covers a dress watch and a daily wearer. A triple roll is ideal for longer trips where you want a choice. If you’re between sizes, go one up, because it’s easy to find a use for a spare slot.

Soft inside, strong outside

Each roll has a soft suede-style lining that protects the crystal and case from scratches. You can choose from brown, black, blue, green, navy and carbon fibre finishes. Rolls close with a snap, so a watch won’t slip out while you travel.

Fits larger watches too

Many people find that rolls are too tight for a big dive watch or chronograph. Ours take watches up to 55mm wide, so most modern watches fit comfortably.

Looking for a gift?

A watch roll is an easy gift for anyone who owns a good watch and travels. It’s practical and looks smart, and the price is below that of a full watch box.

Storing watches at home?

A travel case is built for trips, not for long-term storage. For home use, take a look at our luxury watch boxes, or our watch winders if you own automatics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Tempus watch winders, storage and ordering.

What's the difference between a watch roll and a travel case?

A watch roll is a soft leather wrap that holds 2-3 watches — ideal for light travel with your Tudor Black Bay or Omega Seamaster. A travel case is a structured box, often with a hard shell, offering more protection for 2-4 watches including larger models like the Breitling Navitimer.

Will a travel case fit my large watch?

Yes. Tempus travel cases have adjustable cushions that accommodate watches up to 55mm in diameter, from a 40mm Rolex Submariner to a 46mm Panerai. The soft interior prevents scratches during transit.

Are Tempus watch rolls made from real leather?

Yes, our watch rolls are crafted from genuine full-grain leather with a soft suede or velvet interior. They're designed to age beautifully and protect your watches for years. All come with our 3-year warranty.

Can I take a watch case in hand luggage?

Absolutely. Our travel cases are compact and designed to fit in hand luggage or a briefcase. They keep your watches — whether it's a Cartier Santos or an IWC Portugieser — secure and accessible during travel.

How do I clean a leather watch roll?

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a leather conditioner sparingly. Avoid water and harsh chemicals. Store in the provided dust bag when not in use.

Do you offer free UK delivery?

Yes, all UK orders ship free. Your watch roll or travel case arrives in elegant gift-ready packaging.

What is a watch winder, and how does it work?

A watch winder is a device that gently rotates an automatic watch to help keep its movement wound while it is not being worn. Automatic watches use a rotor to wind the mainspring, and a watch winder provides movement that can help maintain their power reserve.

Do I need a watch winder for my automatic watch?

A watch winder is optional rather than essential. It is most useful if you rotate between several automatic watches or want to reduce how often you reset the time and calendar after a watch stops. A watch can also be allowed to stop and then wound and set according to its manufacturer's instructions. Explore our range in the watch winders collection.

Can a watch winder be used with any watch?

Watch winders are designed for automatic mechanical watches. Standard quartz watches do not need winding, and a winder cannot wind a traditional manual-wind watch. For an automatic watch, check the manufacturer's recommended winding direction and turns per day before choosing your settings.

What does turns per day (TPD) mean on a watch winder?

Turns per day, often shortened to TPD, describes the number of rotations a watch winder makes over a day. Different automatic movements have different winding requirements, so use your watch manufacturer's guidance rather than assuming one setting suits every watch. Tempus winders offer programmable TPD settings to match your specific movement.

Which winding direction should I choose?

Automatic watch movements may wind clockwise, counterclockwise or in both directions. Choose a watch winder with settings that match your watch's requirements. If you are unsure, check with the watch manufacturer or an authorised service centre.

Are Tempus watch winders noisy?

No. Tempus watch winders use quiet precision motors designed to run whisper-quiet, making them suitable for a bedroom or office. Many of our customers keep their winders on a nightstand without any disturbance.

How do I choose a watch winder for my collection?

Start with the number of automatic watches you want to keep wound, then check winding settings, cushion fit, power options and dimensions. For a collection containing different movements, look for independently adjustable settings so each watch can receive the appropriate winding programme. Browse by capacity in our watch winders collection.

What is the difference between a watch winder and a watch box?

A watch winder rotates automatic watches to help keep them wound. A watch box provides organised storage without winding the movement. Choose a winder for convenience between wears, or a watch box when your priority is storing and displaying your collection. See our luxury watch boxes for storage options.

What should I look for in a watch travel case?

Look for a secure closure, a suitable fit and compartments that keep watches separated. Check that the case accommodates your watches' case sizes and straps or bracelets. A travel case can help protect against everyday knocks and scratches, but it should not be treated as theft protection. Our watch cases and travel rolls are designed for exactly this.

What should I check before buying a safe for luxury watches?

Check the safe's security certification, dimensions, installation requirements and storage capacity. If it includes watch winders, also check their settings and power requirements. Before buying, ask your insurer whether the specific safe and its installation meet the requirements for your collection. A safe's grade alone does not guarantee insurance cover. Explore our watch winder safes.

Do you sell watch boxes with winders built in?

Yes — our watch winder safes combine secure storage with built-in winders, so your automatic watches stay wound inside a locked, protected environment. This is the ideal solution for collectors who want both security and convenience.

Will my watches fit in your boxes and winders?

Our winders and boxes are designed to accommodate standard men's and women's watch sizes, including oversized cases. The watch cushions are adjustable or spring-loaded to hold watches securely. If you have a particularly large or unusual watch, contact us with the case dimensions and we'll confirm compatibility.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible. Delivery times vary by destination — UK orders typically arrive within a few working days, while international delivery depends on the destination country and customs processing. You'll receive tracking information once your order has been dispatched.

What warranty do Tempus products come with?

All Tempus products are covered by our 3 year warranty as standard. This is a return-to-base warranty, meaning you return the item to us if it needs repair and we return it to you once fixed.

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 30-day change of mind return period — extended from the statutory 14 days as a goodwill gesture. Items must be unused, in their original undamaged packaging with all accessories and documentation. Custom-built and personalised items are excluded from change of mind returns.

What if my item arrives faulty or damaged?

If your item arrives faulty, damaged or incorrectly described, please contact us straight away with your order number and details of the problem. We'll arrange a repair, replacement or refund in line with your statutory rights and our 3 year warranty.
